As many of you know, ChizComm is celebrating its fifth year in business. Over the past five years, the company has grown from two to over forty employees, with no signs of slowing down! I’m lucky to call employee #1, Stephanie Costabile, my boss. I sat down with her to talk about the past five years, as well as what the future may hold for the company!
LC: Hey Steph, thanks for sitting down with me today.
SC: It’s my pleasure. Also, you begged me.
LC: It’s true. I appreciate you. So, tell us about how you came across ChizComm five years ago?
SC: I was just finishing up my contract with Astral Media when I saw an exciting job posting about toys on LinkedIn. I figured it was the right career move at the time. Coincidentally, my part-time job was with Mastermind Toys, so I was already very involved with the industry. Also, I’m a child, so it was a natural fit.
LC: Haha. So what was it like in the early days? I can barely imagine it being such a small team here.
SC: There were only four of us and we had an open concept office, which made us very close. We got to wear many hats and we’re involved in all aspects of marketing (social, creative, PR). We were even the shipping department! It made me appreciate all sides of the business and taught me how to properly implement (and execute) on strategies from all angles.
LC: Wow, it must be so cool to see how the company has changed over the years. What’s been the biggest change, in your opinion?
SC: Now we’re lucky to have experts in every department, who bring a wealth of knowledge and talent. It’s also great to work with so many new and amazing personalities and witness how they work together and grow.
LC: It’s true, the people who work here truly are amazing. What’s your favorite part of the job?
SC: Honestly, I’ve worked with so many amazing clients and partners over the years. Even though so many of them aren’t local, it’s so great to get that one-on-one time with them during travel or at events. We share a passion for success in their brand, so when a client is trusting in your strategy and execution, it’s very rewarding.
LC: Exactly! That’s the best feeling. So, where do you see the company in five years from now?
SC: Over the last few years, ChizComm has branched out from solely the toy industry, so I think we will continue to expand into other categories. That being said, we will continue to rock it at Toy Fair, with more and more booths every year #NYTF2023
