It’s the first week of December. If you’re like me, you might think the Christmas season doesn’t start until the calendar shows December 1st and you’ve shuddered at the sight and sounds of anything Christmas-related that’s popped up early. Or maybe the idea of Christmas carols and decorations and gift shopping post-Halloween is your cup of tea. Whatever the case, Christmas marketing campaigns are already in full swing and since we at Chizcomm are in the marketing business, we love drawing inspiration from beautiful, hilarious, and creative examples of marketing.
Here’s a list of the top 5 campaigns that have come out so far from around the world.
M&M’s Christmas commercials are classic. What better way to extend a campaign than to add a sequel to one of the most loved ads of the season! Adding onto the end of their famous “They Do Exist!” TV spots, M&M’s are invoking that sense of familiarity but also giving audiences something new and unexpected. Sequels aren’t all bad!
In a 30-second spot that feels like one big dig at Amazon, eBay calls out the different kinds of bad gift givers. It’s funny, it’s relatable, it’s short – what more can you ask for?
While it’s not directly tied to Christmas, Spotify is back with another hilarious out-of-home campaign that promotes us trying to live our best lives in 2018. Continuing the idea from a previous campaign, they’ve analyzed the data from their users and found some pretty hilarious nuggets of information that they’ve spun into advice. Good advice, I must say!
Personally I’m a bit of a Grinch when it comes to sappy Christmas commercials, but this one actually gave me goosebumps. Without pushing the product too obviously, Apple manages to convey the brand’s messaging with one simple tagline at the end. Plus, who wouldn’t want to fall in love amid a beautiful wintery scene and dance like nobody’s watching?
How hilarious is this commercial? The relatability is off the charts for anyone who’s ever tried to find parking during the madness that is holiday shopping. Even though the spot is more than 2 minutes long, there’s a great payoff at the end of it so stick it out – it’s worth it!
