We have all experienced moments at work when we feel absolutely drained, resulting in low productivity and the caffeine just isn’t doing the trick anymore.

It often seems there aren’t enough hours in the day and the last thing we need is a lack of energy to prohibit us from getting to the tasks we need done. The demands of everyday life are keeping us so busy, that sometimes we forget the simple things to make us feel more energized. Luckily there are some tips and tricks to ensure we feel energized and productive throughout the day.

1. Exercise

Whether it’s a quick walk around the block or a trip to the gym, exercising will help to release stress hormones and increase the flow of oxygen, which eliminates feelings of fatigue. A simple work out can also help for a soundly sleep.

2. Healthy eating habits

First things first, don’t skip breakfast! Having something to eat first thing in the morning is a great way to start the day and will help with your energy levels. Healthy and well balanced snacks throughout the day are also important to keep your energy high.

3. Stay hydrated

Research shows dehydration can leave you feeling tired and lethargic. It may be a good idea to keep a glass of water at your desk to ensure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the entire day.

4. Clean your desk

Keeping a neat and tidy work space will help you to stay focused and feel less stressed.

5. Get a good night’s sleep

Getting an adequate amount of sleep is good for both the mind and mood and will guarantee that you feel more alert throughout the day.

6. Move around

If you have the time, take a short walk during your lunch. This will help serotonin levels and give you more energy when you return to work, so you can make better use of your work day. Taking short breaks during long tasks will also help to improve your concentration.

There are many different ways to boost your energy and maximize the hours you have in each work day. Find out what works best for you and try to stick with it – by slowly implementing these tips, you’ll begin to reap the benefits so you can ultimately thrive in your workplace.
