With the advance of technology, the amount of information we consume on a daily basis can get pretty overwhelming. That’s why at least once a month I take a day off from basically all technology that surrounds me. Call it the analog day. On that day, usually on a weekend I’ll turn off every single device I have. No TV, no computer, no social media, no news, music is the only thing I allow myself to use, for the next 24 hours.
The day before I will let people who might have to reach me (parents, friends, etc.) that I will not be available and that I will get back to them the next day. This quiet time allows me to put all my thinking in order, and get some proper rest.
I’ll read a book, listen to a few songs, go for walks, play with the dog, but my personal favorite is just laying down in the couch doing absolutely nothing until you fall asleep for a good couple hours’ nap!
For some people this might seem hard, but try it yourself, see if it can help you unwind from the overflowing amount of information that gets thrown in our faces all the time. Turning your phone off can make wonders for health.
