Challenge Yourself By Trying Something New

Challenge Yourself By Trying Something New by Adeline Salvador on August 28th, 2019

Sometimes you get stuck in the same old boring routine and you don’t realize how easy it is to break this cycle and try something new. A few months ago, someone once told me to try something new each month, no matter how big or small, just try something you’ve never done before. Challenge accepted!

Here are some of the things I’ve tried over the course of the summer (I recommend you guys should try too!):

Drive-In Movie

The best thing about drive-in movies is that you get a double or even triple feature for the price of one movie ticket. To have the best movie experience, get there at least half an hour early to grab a good parking spot and buy some snacks. Bring lots of pillows and blankets and make yourself comfortable. Last but not least, if you don’t want to get eaten alive by mosquitos, don’t forget mosquito repellent!

I always try to stay active, so I’m always up for challenges that require any physical energy. The gym has many different types of walls to climb on, the one that caught my interest was bouldering. Bouldering walls are lower than regular rock climbing walls and don’t require any safety harness. Each climbing route is differentiated by the colour of the rock and each route is flagged to show whether it’s suited for beginners or more experienced climbers. I definitely enjoyed bouldering and considering make it a hobby.

Camping was a last minute plan that my friend and I made before summer ends. We drove to the campsite and set up our tents and hammocks. Once we were settled, we cooked some pizza and sausages over the grill. By night, we brought out the marshmallows, chocolates, and graham crackers to make some s’mores. The stars also illuminated the campsite and were so bright and beautiful. As you can see the highlight of my camping experience was cooking all the food by the campfire. 10/10 would do again!

I challenge you to try something new next month. No matter big or small the challenge is, these are new experiences that can possibly even turn into new hobbies.
