Is there anything better than that first sip of coffee in the morning? Coffee is a staple to so many people’s morning routine. Nothing really beats the smell of a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the morning, giving us the energy boost needed to begin the day.
As it turns out, the early morning isn’t the best time to indulge in caffeine. According to research, the most effective time to drink a hot cup of joe is after 9:30am. Caffeine interferes with cortisol levels (stress hormone) in our body. When coffee is consumed during cortisol levels peak time (8:00am to 9:00am) it can actually lead to an increase in stress levels. This is why so many people experience high levels of stress and anxiety in the morning!
It is important to be mindful of the time when brewing your next cup. Try replacing your early cup of coffee with water or even decaffeinated tea. Coffee will forever be a morning staple- let’s just be more mindful of the time the next time we go for a cup!
